They play a significant role in a medical facility's operations as it enables transportation of varied equipment and supplies such as drug cartons, chest equipment, diagnostic equipment, medical instruments, shoulder equipment, etc. The healthcare spending as well as the demand for hospital furniture has been increasing around the world, indicating a growing market. For example the Health Care Advisory Board estimated that hospitals would need to increase their capacity by 40 capacity between 2000 and 2010 in the US. As for increasing healthcare costs, the health share of gross domestic product (GDP) in the United States is forecasted to reach 19.5 percent of GDP by 2016.
